 Reg William Hind
January 13, 1922 - March 13, 2008
Reg was the loving patriarch of his family, a great friend to many and a huge contributor of service to this community. He follows the recent passing of the love of his life, Margaret and leaves behind his children, Ginny, Ronni (Lee) and Scott (Catherine). "Grandad" will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Jenny, Graeme, Robyn and Alex Izard, Meghan, Ryan and Reid Edmondson and Lauren Carling and Devon Hind. He loved social gatherings where he could spend quality time with the two important ingredients in his life; family and friends. He positively influenced those that knew him. The way he lived his life set an example for us all.
A Memorial Service will be held at First United Metropolitan Church, 932 Balmoral Road on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 1:00 pm. A reception will follow at the Victoria Golf Club from 2:15 PM - 4:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society.

Wilfred James Gliddon
March 8, 2008
Wilf leaves his devoted wife Esther and a loving family - James (Deborah), Robert (Genevieve), Allyne and David. Wilf was proud grandfather of Robert, Steven, Allison and Lindsay and dear brother of Eileen (Bruce), Elsie and Jack (Bernice). Wilf was born in Elkhorn, MB. but spent his school years in The Pas, MB. After graduating from High School, Wilf joined the Royal Bank. In 1942 Wilf enlisted in the R.C.A.F. and served overseas with Bomber Command. On December 4, 1944, Pilot Officer Gliddon was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. After the War, he was posted to Air Force Headquarters in Ottawa, applied for discharge in 1946 and returned to the Royal Bank (Winnipeg, MB). He retired in 1981 and he and Esther moved to Victoria. Wilf will be remembered as a quiet and thoughtful man. He will be sorely missed by his devoted family and the many friends he made over the years. The family wish to thank Dr. Brad Hunter for his compassionate care during Wilf's illness. We also thank the B.C. Cancer Agency and the Victoria Hospice for their care and support. To those who have sent messages and to our kind friends and neighbours, we thank you so much. We will have a private Family time. No flowers please. 13 January, 2008, 1 PM George Kent Memorial
The Royal Victoria Yacht Club
KENT, George Edward
Oct. 17, 1915 Dec. 16, 2007
George was predeceased by his loving wife, Gwen, some ten years ago and leaves to mourn, his sons Chris (Leslea) and granddaughter Cindy of Victoria, Tom (Patti) of Palm Springs, daughter Susan of Duncan, BC and a legion of friends that span the four corners of the globe. George, as we all know had two passions in life, singing and sailing. Singing began as a boy soprano in Winnipeg and led to an illustrious career that spanned almost 50 years which included many operas, recordings with the BBC (when he served with the RCAF from 1942-45), CBC and numerous appearances with various symphony orchestras in the USA and Canada. He was once considered one of the finest tenors in Canada. His love for sailing began when he built a small "Sunfish" boat with planks dried out from the living room floor following the 1950 flood in Winnipeg. George suffered from "two foot itus" and the list of boats that he and Gwen enjoyed would fill a small book. How he and Gwen loved their cottage and sailing at Clearwater Bay, Ontario and cruising the Gulf Islands in BC and the San Juans in Washington, especially Garrison Bay. After a successful business career in Winnipeg, he and Gwen moved to Victoria. A member of Rotary International since 1954 his volunteer activities included becoming President of The Rotary Club of Victoria. Over the years, he was responsible for helping raise thousands of dollars for various charities and projects, especially the Rotary choirs. His involvement in Rotary and his love for yachting eventually led to becoming International Commodore for the IYFR. He certainly was a man who gave more than he received. Special thanks go to the staff of The Wellesley, The Parkwood Court and especially to Dr. Walter Chow and staff for their care and compassion over the years.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Sunday, Jan. 13 at 1 PM at The Royal Victoria Yacht Club. In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to the The Rotary Club of Victoria Foundation, 805 Gordon St., Victoria BC, V8W 1Z6, or the Salvation Army, 4030 Douglas St., Victoria BC, V8X 5J6. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallbros.com. Keep the faith! 433150
