Porto - May 16 From Pocinho we took a short bus ride to the Pre-history Museum of the Coa River. The museum documents the rock carvings found in the Coa Valley. The carvings were found at the time a dam was in process of being built. A change in govenment resulted in the cancellation of the dam and preservtion of the carvings. Now almost 1400 rock carving sites have been found. Outside the museum which is built into the hillside. There were marvellous views of the river valley, vegetation (olive and almond trees) and various flowers. |
