Porto - May 16 From Pocinho we took a short bus ride to the Pre-history Museum of the Coa River. The museum documents the rock carvings found in the Coa Valley. The carvings were found at the time a dam was in process of being built. A change in govenment resulted in the cancellation of the dam and preservtion of the carvings. Now almost 1400 rock carving sites have been found. Examples of the rock carvings - none are in the museum. The pieces in the museum are copies of the actual carvings. |
