Day 53 - Australia Zoo
Bush Turkey
After the drive to Beerwah we had 4 hours to tour the Australia Zoo - many interesting and colourful creatures. The zoo was well organized and there was an impressive number of cars in the lot, but still the zoo did not seem crowded.
This male Bush Turkey is on a communal clutch of eggs, covered in leaves and other vegetable matter. The males move the material around to maintain the proper temperature for the development of the embryos in the eggs.
