Day 47 - Cairns to Townsville
Stop in a eucalptus forest on the way to the top of the Atherton Table lands - twisty-turny road necessity !!!
A 470 km drive with a scenic detour via the Atherton Tablelands. The initial part was a very twisty road - poorly appreciated by the navigator. Once past the turns we had interesting stops at an old Curtain Fig, a deep crater, and Dinner Falls. At our lunch stop we saw a very colourful bird which turned out to be a Bush Turkey - much different from the black turkeys in New Zealand.
