Day 29 - Tauranga - Mount Maunganui
Tauranga was a charming town which reminded us a lot of Sidney (near Victoria...) except the scenery was more spectacular here. We walked along the shops and then turned towards Mt Maunganui. All along the road were condo townhomes and then 7-8 story condos.... prices very much like VIctoria. We walked all around Mt Maunganui and had an interesting talk with a Dutch fellow who had worked in Basel, married a Swiss gal and moved to NZ 20-years ago. THe walk around The Mount was a real pleasure and we saw a sea lion and a lot of birds, kids on a school outing and many locals enjoying the walk. We can imagine how popular Tauranga would be in summer. A great way to end our cruise !!
