Day 15 - Ice Carving
The Volendam has one crew member who is capable of doing ice carving. The larger shipw will usually have 2 ice carvers on board. The carver started from a large block of specially prepared ice and carved a swan using just chisels and a long knife. All this took place on the Lido pool deck under a blazing sun. The ice was melting at the rate of more than an inch per hour.
