Trip - Flagstaff & St George
Walnut Canyon east of Flagstaff.
We first went on the Island Trail which descends 185 feet into the canyon. The Rim trail gives views of other pueblo ruins.
The big overhang kept water from running down the face of the pueblos. Some of the black is soot from fires in the peublos, but most is the natural varnish which forms on the rocks.
