Chanticleer Point -- Columbia River
Photo Date 2005-10-12, 10:14:01 Columbia River Scenic Route, OR, USA 12 Oct 2005 Scenes along the Columbia River upstream of Portland along the scenic route on the south shore of the river. The descriptions of the deep gorges and rapids that we heard about in the Lewis & Clark tales have been modified by dams in modern times, but the scenery is still lovely, if less rugged. Chanticeer Point has a particularly beautiful vista and a hotel was located here when the auto road was first built in the 1920's.
