After our breakfast of waffles and toast we walked down to the beach and into town. The memorial on the beach to local victims of the Iraqi war was quite touching. There is a lot of anti-war sentiment in this region. The man in the picture said a prayer in front of every cross.
Our first multi-day stop was at Newport on the Oregon coast. There were great beaches to walk and the town was charming. In the past it had been one of the first beaches accessible by car in the area and was quite popular.
