Photo Date 2012-02-23, 11:41:32 Blue Bridge Replacement - 2012 The week of 20-24 Feb marked the start of the removal of the famous Victoria Blue Bridge. The heavy lift barge Arctic Tu was brought in to take away the railway section. These were taken on Thursday on my way to the Rotary meeting. The railway section was raised using one of the cranes - presumably the motors have been romoved. Workers were cutting away sections for the big lift on Friday. The lift took place on a miserable, rainy Friday (24th). I went out at 11 am and waited in the rain for 3 hrs until the process was almost finished - just as the batteries in my camera put our their 'all done' warning. |
